How flattering! (I’m batting my eyelashes now) When I was thinking of what Courtney wanted, I really thought of how I do things, my mother does things, my grandmother, aunt, and on and on. Just think of things  in a different way. Flower arranging  is really just problem solving, and the first problem is how to make the arrangement….R Home blog post

Flowers on a Candlestick

November 4th, 2010 by Sarah

Here I have updated a classic. I’ve been reviewing my Sheila Macqueen books given to me by my mother and dear Auntie Lloyd.

An arrangement on a candle stick is so English and sort of retro too. This fall inspired arrangement has mums, bittersweet, jasmine vine,  pepper berry, gold wire and a few other little tidbits.

The bird in the nest gives it an unexpected focal point.

YMCA – The New Colors are Fun!

October 22nd, 2010 by Sarah

Posted is an arrangement I made for the Patrick Henry YMCA ribbon cutting. The new colors are great for creating bright, fun and energetic arrangements.

Be sure to click on this photo for a better view. The picture was taken viewing the “long and low” from the side. I used moss to cover the oasis instead of greens, and that kept the arrangement from being to dense with greens. The teal wire adds some fun to arrangement, as well as the ribbons.
